The future of camera repair management

Fixation is a specialist photographic repair centre approved by the likes of Canon, Nikon and Sony. Customers are able to receive free estimates to repair broken equipment by either door stop pickup or visiting their nearest branch.

We worked with Fixation to overhaul their repair booking system by connecting their back-office operations with a new digital platform accessible from a web browser. This market-leading digital platform has not only scaled their business but allowed customers to accept estimates immediately after receiving a quote.

The challenge

We needed to connect the new digital platform to the back-office IT infrastructure. This required a deep understanding of the system, engineer workflows and customer touch points.

We developed an API to allow the system to push jobs to the new platform. Customers have the ability to interact with jobs and choose to proceed with or decline an estimate. Once complete, the new platform updates the job on the internal system and alert the correct personnel.

We needed to consolidate a complex system into an intuitive, smooth and stunning front-end interface. Every customer touch point was considered and each interaction was designed right down to the smallest detail.

From design to implementation, Design Militia built a site allowing our customers to act on their repairs online for the first time. With a strong focus on UX the status and history of a repair is clearer than ever for our customers. The API Design Militia built has not only significantly improved our online repair visibility, it has provided a platform for future development and improvements to our online repair offer. Tim designed in space for additional features knowing that this was the start of a wider project and Dan helped us build a robust data structure to serve our current and future goals.

The repair process is complex with many starting points and outcomes, Design Milita provided a solution satisfied the complexity of the repair process while providing us with the rapid support we needed throughout the design, build and after launch.
