How do you launch a new start-up lens hire business into an already established market?

When Adham from LensPimp first approached us about designing a brand and website for a lens hire company we were excited by the challenge, as there were already quite a few lens hire companies in the market.

Competitor Analysis

We decided to investigate a few companies by performing a Competitor Analysis Report detailing what the competition was offering on their websites. Apart from a mass inventory of practically every lens from Nikon to Canon, all sites fell down on the hiring process. The sites had clumsy off-the-shelf checkout pages that were not designed for hiring. Customers were required to figure out which days the lens would be available rather than providing just a list of the available days. If we were to make LensPimp successful, this was the one area we needed the site to excel in.

The Lens Hiring Process

We designed and developed a system that would calculate the available hire dates on behalf of the customer and in turn make the lens hiring process simpler and intuitive.

SagePay

In order for customers to make a purchase we advised Adham to integrate the checkout with SagePay due to the flexibility of the payment pages, fraud prevention and support available by the SagePay team.

Backend

The custom built backend was created to provide the LensPimp team with a simple method of scanning in and out inventory that utilised a barcode scanner (yes - really). No cumbersome forms to fill out, just a matter of scanning a lens in or out and the system would do the rest. This meant the team can spend more time with customers and promoting the site rather then having to manually manage the hire dates.

Seach Engine Optimisation

Visibility is key on the web and we spent a great deal of time working with Adham to generate a list of phrases that matched the Website content and keywords. LensPimp is currently ranking on the first page of Google for 90% of the search terms we agreed on.
