But only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. This is not uncommon - it can be pretty difficult to stir up interest among the masses when it comes to getting them to read what you have to write. You can be a brilliant copy writer but if you can't write a good headline, nobody will ever know. So we’ve put together some quick fire tips to improve the odds of your insightful commentary getting read with some killer headlines that leave the reader wanting more. And yes, we know this isn't particularly original but the advice is still useful! It can't be all giant octopuses, you know!
- Get to the point - first impressions count. Read this blog post.
- Be bold and controversial. Read this blog post, or die!
- Include your keywords in your headline. Not getting enough hits? Write a killer headline to see results.
- Answer a question. The best way to write a killer blog post.
- Solve a problem. At last... a way to make sure your posts get read!
- Use reverse psychology. Whatever you do, don't read this post!
- Use headlines that contain a list. 7 ways to write a killer headline.
You get the idea... try using a headline in one of these formats next time you're titling your blog post, (if it’s relevant that is). Not every headline will appeal to every reader, so try a few different types and see what works for your audience.
