Could your website speed affect your page rank?

SEO

According to Google, yes. Your website’s performance could soon be a factor of where your website gets listed in Google’s search results. It is not yet known when this new factor will be introduced, however, we expect in early 2010 to coincide with the release of Google Caffeine (real time search results).

Update: Google have announced that site speed will affect search rankings as of 9th April 2010 - read more on the Google Webmater Blog.

Slow loading websites frustrate and annoy users. If your website is annoying your users then they’re less likely to buy goods, contact you or even visit the website again in the future. So optimizing your website for speed (performance) is a win-win situation.

As a small or medium sized business, how can you ensure that your website is optimized for speed? Well, if you’re planning for a redesign of your website then making sure it’s a goal in the project at the start is key. Whether you have recently (or not) had your website redesigned then there are some quick changes you can implement to help optimize your website for performance, as well as some technical changes that require understanding of servers.

To help combat slow loading sites and your business' page rank, Design Militia is offering a "Website Performance Audit". To put it simpler, we’ll analysis your website’s performance and send you a report in plain English with a list of recommendations. We’ll send you a quote as well and if you decide to use us to implement the changes, the initial report is free.

Get in contact with us today to make sure your website speed isn’t affecting your customers experience or your future Google rank.
